Emily D. Baker

University of Vermont graduate student Emily D. Baker poses in front of the First Baptist Church of Keeseville.  In the summer of 2022, Emily interned for the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom, National Park Service. She toured the North Star Underground Railroad Museum at AuSable Chasm and  other  Underground Railroad sites like the Church in Keeseville.

“The Mother Church: The First Baptist Church of Keeseville, N.Y. 1788-1968” is a two-year dive, almost 20 years in the making, into the history of the oldest religious body on the west bank of Lake Champlain.

Robin Michel Caudell designed, created and researched this topic for the North Country Underground Railroad Historical Association’s Museum Association of New York Building Capacity, Creating Sustainability, Growing Accessibility Year 2 Project.
