Welcome to the Capturing the History of SUNY Plattsburgh’s Student Nightlife Scene in the 1980s and 1990s Exhibit. This is a Capstone project for University of Washington student Eleanor Schulz. Eleanor has been pursuing her Master's of Library and Information Science and has collaborated with SUNY Plattsburgh and UW librarians to create an exhibit based on the memories of Plattsburgh alumni on musical concerts and speaking events that they attended during their time as students. The source and basis for the project is the Plattsburgh Rocks! website.
From the 1960s to 1990s, Plattsburgh had a vibrant culture of concerts and performances, playing host to rock groups and to speakers that were touring the Northeastern US and Quebec. Before his untimely death in 2020, librarian Tim Hartnett compiled a spreadsheet of Plattsburgh's major concerts and other performances. Hartnett and a working group of librarians and community members began a website in Omeka Classic devoted to this history: https://plattsburghrocks.org. This Capstone is the second student exhibit utilizing Plattsburgh Rocks! as their primary source, with "And Still We Rise" being the first: https://plattsburghrocks.org/exhibits/show/and-still-we-rise
