Regarding the County of Washington consisting of Lots Number 8, 9, 57, 40, 41 and 32 of Township Number 24 in Totten and Crossfield's Purchase. The grant is for 2,500 acres in total, and that within a term of seven years, one actual settlement must be made on said tract of land for every 640 acres. Washington County was the renamed Charlotte County. It was created from Albany County in 1772. Eventually Clinton County was created from Washington County in 1799.
