Harry Chapin Event 1976

Singer-songwriter and activist Harry Chapin visited Plattsburgh multiple times before his untimely passing in 1981. In 1976, he threw a benefit concert for congressional democractic candidate Norma Bartle. Cass Hartnett attended this benefit; she was a fan of the candidate as well as the singer. She remembers the singer performed some of his classic hits like "W.O.L.D" and "Taxi Driver." As this was a benefit, Chapin threw together a kissing booth to raise money for Bartle's campaign. Cass remembers she paid to be able to be kissed by the singer too.
