Cassandra (Cass) Hartnett Oral History
Cassandra "Cass" Hartnett is a research librarian at the University of Washington Libraries, Seattle. Cass grew up in Plattsburgh, NY and lived there from 1968-1982, the daughter of William and Francesca Hartnett of Brinkerhoff Street. She is the youngest of six children. Her childhood was greatly enriched by free or low cost cultural, athletic, and academic events on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus, where her father was a Mathematics professor and her mother worked as a nurse. Even though she visits Plattsburgh frequently, Cass misses Lake Champlain, the Adirondacks, the North Country music scene, and the close-knit community at John XXIII Newman Center in the 1970s and 1980s. She is inspired by the legacy of her fellow librarian and brother Tim Hartnett and his work to preserve the history of Plattsburgh events.
